About the Author

Geraldo Affonso Muzzi a man passionate about World Cups. Mr. Muzzi is a former Brazilian Ambassador to many different countries. He researched since the first edition held in Uruguay in 1930. His new bilingual book (in English and Portuguese) has historical texts, descriptions of special events, tables of results, many interesting data for researchers and lay people. Mr. Muzzi also included information about the up coming African Cup, South Africa 2010.

Since then FIFA has grown up considerably and today there are about 205 countries affiliated to it, even more than the 192 members of the U.N. or the 202 of the Olympic Committee."

"The only time the World Cup was played in Brazil in 1950, the team was beaten by Uruguay in a historic final at Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro."

"All 5 Cups won by Brazil were disputed out of home: in Sweden in 1958, Chile in 1962, in Mexico in 1970, the United States in 1994 and Korea/Japan in 2002. "
